PM Modi Empathizes And Tweets Condolences Over Vienna Terror Attacks

An unfortunate attack on Monday terrified the whole of Austria. This incident took place an evening before a nationwide curfew was to be announced due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

There was an attack in six locations of Vienna. It started outside the city’s main synagogue. Austria’s Government calls it a “repulsive terror attack.”

One of the attackers was shot dead. One perpetrator is still on the run according to Karl Nehammer, Austria’s interior minister.

For an extra measure of safety, the interior ministry has decided to have border checks and children are not allowed to got to school.

On Tuesday, Vienna mayor Michael Ludwig said the city would “run normally”.However, there will be a lot of police security on the city’s streets.

The French President Emmanuel Macron, who has been witnessing the outrage of several Muslim-majority countries in recent days, said, “This is our Europe. Our enemies must know with whom they are dealing. We will not retreat.”

On Tuesday, PM Modi shared his condolences over the terror attack in Vienna, he tweeted saying “Deeply shocked and saddened by the dastardly terror attacks in Vienna. India stands with Austria in this tragic time. My thoughts are with the victims and their families.”
