COVID-19 Cases Rise Drastically in India- Country on alarm

Over the last 24 hours there have been 16,311 new cases and 161 deaths recorded in India. This brings the total number of active cases in the country currently to a whooping 2,22,526. 10,092,909 patients who suffered from the virus have been discharged from hospitals between Sunday and Monday morning.

In spite of the drastic and constant rise in cases,patients are being frequently released from hospitals. The death toll has rise to a shocking 1,51,160 according to the Union Health Ministry’s dashboard.

The country’s total COVID-19 virus tally has risen to 10,466,595 and the Union health and family welfare ministry is planning on taking mre serious and preventive measures to implement the COVID-19 protocols in the country. However, the number of cases and deaths reported on Monday are relatively lower than the number of cases and deaths reported on Sunday.

Currently, the recovery rate in India has risen to 96.42%. The total number of people who are infected from the new mutant strain from the UK who are currently in India stands at 90, according to the health ministry.

Over the last two weeks, India has been reporting less than 300 deaths. The country has one of the lowest number of deaths per million population which is 109. Other countries such as Russia, France, Brazil, USA, UK, Italy and Germany have higher deaths per million according to the Union health ministry.

The Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to virtually meet the chief ministers of all states and Union territories at 4PM this evening to discuss the country’s vaccine drive protocols and measures. The vaccination drive in India will begin from January 16th onwards and will perhaps control or slow down the pandemic situation in the country.

It is advised that until then as responsible citizens we stay safe and refrain from any activity that might spread the deadly pandemic.
